"Not to bring up something upsetting, but when you leave here today, you may go through a period of unemployment. My suggestion is this: Enjoy the unemployment. Have a second cup of coffee. Go to the park. Read Walt Whitman. Walt Whitman loved being unemployed. I don't believe he ever did a day's work in his life. As you may know, he was a poet. If a lot of time goes by and you continue to be unemployed, you may want to consider announcing to all appropriate parties that you have become a poet."

LIVING IN LOVE: A MEANING FOR LIFE

The lives of humans are so tenderly balanced. The scales of emotion and addiction are so easily tipped to one extreme or the other. Those who smoke, smoke hardcore. those who get drunk for the fun of it must continue getting drunk to have fun. It's not something we think about before we do it either. Something in your brain chemisty changes and you become dependent. Those who have been in a deep long-term relationship find it hard to stay single and continue being happy with themselves. Making choices is a neccessary part of life, but when you make them, think about the significance it could have on your future. Sheltered individuals experience another kind of struggle in their lives. They miss out on the joys of breaking free and finding things out for themselves. They begin to get caught in a cycle of doubt and ignorance when they don't have a purpose for abstaining. This is simply one dynamic that I've noticed in my own life. The further i get from my comfort zone, the more fulfillment I find in my life. The only purpose i've found to be nobel enough for my existence is in serving others. It doesn't leave you with regret after indulging in meaningless pleasure. It doesn't leave you feeling self righteous about your own standards. I work at Zio's with this arab guy. His name is Lenny and he's our bartender most of the time. Some people would asume that he's just a typical bartender who's purpose in life is to drink and sell alcohol. However, I noticed he wore this band on his wrist everyday. It said "LIVEINLOVE" and when I saw that, I took that as my mission statement. Genuine love is better than being right all the time, and it's better than any drug or escape that you can find. Life is about serving and loving eachother.

It's a standard by which I try to live, and I believe it's a "regal standard" demonstrated through the life of Christ.

Serve someone today, or show love to someone who looks ignored or lonely.
