"Not to bring up something upsetting, but when you leave here today, you may go through a period of unemployment. My suggestion is this: Enjoy the unemployment. Have a second cup of coffee. Go to the park. Read Walt Whitman. Walt Whitman loved being unemployed. I don't believe he ever did a day's work in his life. As you may know, he was a poet. If a lot of time goes by and you continue to be unemployed, you may want to consider announcing to all appropriate parties that you have become a poet."

LEARNING TO SEE THE TRUTH

Everybody wants to live on the edge. The zest of life is often sought after as an image or a set of people we hold close. We connect our feelings to music, for instance, because it's aesthetic and because it holds us captive for a short period of time in a particular emotional state. Finding our purpose or value in other people will never work out. That is why you may get sad just watching MTV. In the back of your mind you know that what you see on there is meaningless junk that they forcefeed to us as "music" television. I don't want to get on a tangent here, but I just don't understand television in general. America is a selfish country and there's only one way to change our culture. Just by holding our own views and opinion about the world outside of our American bubble, we can choose to live differently. I'm starting to feel more and more that we're all called to give up the things that we don't need. By living in "comfort" here in America, I'm witholding my support from the millions out in the world who are starving. The reason we have the freedoms and economy that we have is because we've monopolized and hoarded our wealth like a spoiled child. Walmart sells clothes for next to nothing because there are chinese women willing to work for thirteen cents per hour every day.

On a lighter note...Things are becoming stable in my life. At least I have a job that I can keep for a while hopefully. I have a family that gets along alright now. I'm doing alright in school, but things could use a little work. It's as simple as predicting the weather to figure out what I'm going to do every day. My mind works like a blender sometimes. I can't sort out the random thoughts in my head from the important things. Everyday is a learning experience for me. I hope you are encouraged or enlightened in some way.
